Women’s beer mile world record shattered

Chris Kimbrough, a 44-year-old mother of six, unofficially shattered the women’s beer mile world record by 13 seconds on Sunday. What’s a beer mile? The rules are complicated, but each runner must drink a full-size beer, run a lap around the track, and repeat three times.

Kimbrough finished four laps and four beers in 6:28.6, breaking a 17-year record set by Seanna Robinson in 1997.

The first Beer Mile World Championship, sponsored by Flocasts, will be held in Austin, Texas, on December 3. Kimbraugh plans on competing. “If I could break six minutes, now that would be good,” she said in a Runner’s World report. “But I have six kids. It’s not like I’m going to be doing a lot of practicing.”
