Suspension bridge to connect peaks in the Swiss Alps

The world’s first peak-to-peak suspension bridge is being constructed in the Swiss Alps. According to an article published Thursday in the Telegraph, the Peak Walk will connect the summits of Glacier 3000 and Scex Rouge while hanging at an elevation of 9,700 feet. It’s slated to be completed by November.

Hikers who cross to the bridge will be rewarded with stellar views of iconic peaks like Mont Blanc and the Eiger. The Peak Walk will also have a glass floor, so those making the traverse can peer into the 6,500-foot chasm that separates the two summits. Up to 150 people at a time will be allowed on the span. The bridge has been designed to withstand gusts up to 155 mph.

The Peak Walk cost around 1.8 million Swiss francs ($1.93 million) to construct and is expected to be a boon for local tourism.
